J Shalda Design

Hello and welcome to my studio. My work is abstract, primarily in oil and not focused on portraying objects or things, rather color, shapes and texture. There is a chance you might see odd pieces of paper or other textile objects worked into my paintings to extend the depth of the piece. I am very inspired by emotions — mine and others. This plays a major part in the end result of each canvas I create. I find that painting often fills a need of mine to put on a canvas that which I am unable to find words to express. That need, however, is far outweighed by the pure sense of joy I experience when I paint up to the last moment when that final stroke of color is applied. Painting for me is personal and once the canvas is finished, I feel I have said what I wanted to say. Trying to explain how and why I paint is like explaining how to breathe.

I am full of passion, energy, vibrance and gratitude and I pour all those ingredients into every painting I create. My work is vivid, strong and full of the strength I feel every day. I believe I’ve gone full circle from painting with passion to corporate visual design then back to doing art for the sake of creating something pure and beautiful. I love what I do.
